DREAMERS

Sigh… Paris Fashion Week…. when everything is inspiring, magical, and with thought and purpose. I may be biased, as I have never fallen short of ideas in Paris. It’s actually an overflow of ideas busting at the seams, waiting to be developed. From the endless architecture, the abundance of museums, and the street style. The coffee, the treats, the flowers. It’s a playground of imagination. So when Fashion Month rolls around, you can imagine my delight. I set the alarm for certain shows.… ahem, CHLOE! And start my transport to the otherworldly.

This season has yet to disappoint—perhaps one of the best yet. I am consistent in my favorites, forgiving to those I try to see the message in, and courageous in my convictions. The women representing and delivering on these dreams speak in a parallel fashion—messages on point. Shoulder-bearing details for the weight we carry… and what’s been heavier since January. Ruffles and frills like a confectionary cake out of a Sofia film, colors that dance amongst clouds and sunrises.

Case in point: Chemena Kamali, the creative director of Chloé.

When she showed her first collection, my jaw fell open from the opening look to the last. Three shows later, my jaw is still on the floor. It. Just. Keeps. Getting. Better. She gets us simply put. As she told the New York Times, “The term ‘Chloé girl’ is so connected to how the world perceived the house in the first place,” Ms. Kamali said. “But the word ‘girl’ is reductive. I never want the Chloé woman to be only one thing. No woman is. She has shifting moods and feelings. Ease and optimism always exists with tension. These contrasts and these opposites are what makes everything interesting.”

We adore you. We thank you. We applaud you. You get us…. please keep showing up and dreaming dreams for all of us.
