This was officially my first ever Halloween, appropriately done. It was a never thing for us growing up. But now, I am all about it. Undoubtedly, having some free time on my hands helped this year. Not having to host anyone was another win. But I spirited this Saturday as if the Monster Mash was going to be the extravaganza of the county. But let’s be honest here, I did this for my Grey. His love of Ghostbusters, skeletons, zombies (he gets this from his Dad) was all the more reason to live this up. I started prepping this weeks ago. It came together the morning of, when the Halloween fairy came and delivered balloons, stayed up baking cookies, and was preparing frosting for all her ghosts and Cinderella pumpkins. The sheer joy of seeing Grey believe in magic and shrieking with delight was all I needed. We may have had a low-key night, with lovely neighbors and friends dropping treats off, but it was just the perfect combination of comfort, joy, and spending time with those near and dear. We didn’t need fifty houses to fill a bag of candy to stash away for months. We needed a pizza, a warm fire, and many costume changes throughout the day to make this a perfect Halloween.
